In 2003 I was very fortunate to visit Iceland twice. Once in the winter, so I certainly saw why it is called Iceland, and then in the summer when everything was green and looked very different. I flew to Iceland on IcelandAir from London Heathrow and the airport is located a long way from the capitol. The city is very clean and the people are very friendly, but everything is very expensive.
