London to Brighton Bike Ride

Every year the British Heart Foundation holds its actual London to Brighton Bike Ride. Some 27,000 cyclists start at Clapham Common and make their way through London and along country lanes to Brighton. Its a real fun day for the cyclists, except for the last hill (Ditchling Beacon) into Brighton. Although for the past two years I have made it to the top without having to walk.

Here are some photos of me on the bike ride this year. It turned out to be one of the hottest days in 2000 with the temperature reaching almost 90 degrees. Even with factor 30 sunscreen applied twice, I still managed to get a tan on my arms! This was a rare day when you experienced delays due to so many cyclists on the roads. Sometimes we had to get off and walk because there were so many bicycles.
